Shad Petersen started riding motorcycles in 2001 at 15 years old. In the spring of 2002, he met some local trials riders that convinced him to go ride a mototrials competition near his hometown of Casper, WY. He got hooked! Upon doing a few shows to promote a national round in 2003, Shad, along with Jon Fankhauser, decided that there was a market for these shows and there was certainly money to be made in order to further support their efforts to ride nationals. This was the birth of Play with Gravity. Shad started in the High School class for 2003 and 2004, rode Sportsman in 2005, then Expert-Sportsman in 2006. At the last two rounds in 2006, Shad moved up to Expert and was able to compete in his first World Championship rounds held in Tennessee. During this entire time, PWG was starting to build a reputation of being one of the most amazing and unique touring acts in the region. It was in 2009 that Shad decided to try the national Pro class, finishing 7th in his rookie year. Since then, Shad has finished 8th in 2010 as well as 2011. Shad also still continues to tour with Play with Gravity, performing shows that continue to amaze people one town at a time.
